Event Announcement - Healthy Diet - Cooking with Sprouts

Hello Friends,

I am glad to present to you an event in my blog. I am guest hosting the event for Priya of Priya's Versatile Recipes. Priya is an amazing blogger with tons of recipes. When I say tons, I am not being figurative here. You just have to look at her blog to get ideas of how many ways a fruit, veg, flour etc can be used. Just mind blowing.

Thank you for letting me host this event Priya.

Priya started the Healthy diet series last year and I had a chance to host the Healthy Breakfast last year. This year I come back to you with a new Event in the cooking healthy series.

Cooking with Sprouts!! Lentils form an integral part of Indian Vegetarian cooking, providing the much needed Protein. Sprout them and you have upped the health factor sooo much..

I always used to Sprout my Green Moong or Cow peas etc. I was in for a surprise when a friend of mine showed me years ago that they sprout chick peas, green peas etc. There is no end to what you can cook with these sprouts!!

Looking forward to all the wonderful recipes that I will be seeing in the coming month.

Event Announcement - Show Me Your HITS - Festive Food

Happy to Announce an event in my blog. This month I am guest hosting Sangeetha's Show Me Your HITS (Healthy Interesting Tasty FoodS). Do I need to say more?

Going with the festive nature of the month, I chose the theme as Festive Food.

When I think of festive food, the first things that come to mind are the ones that we make for Indian Festivals - all the sweets, kheer/payasam, savouries etc. Then of course all the western ones - Christmas bakes, savoury bakes, and all the dishes, gravies and soup that go for Christmas Lunch (or if you still have any of your Thanks Giving recipes to post). I may even give a shot at making some sweet/savoury for Hanukkah (Jewish Festival of Lights). Oh well, it need not be a festival celebrated this month. The options are many. All you have to do is don your cooking hat, get cooking and clicking and send me the recipes.

1. Cook any Course or Cuisine for the theme Festive Food. Please remember that it has to be a healthy/low calorie dish.

2. Vegetarian dishes only. Eggs can also be included both in baking and as a recipe.

3. Use of logo is appreciated as it helps spread the word.

4. Link to Sangeetha's HITS announcement and this page is mandatory.

5. Only 2 Archived entries are accepted as long as they are linked with both announcements.

6. Multiple New Entries are accepted.

Event Announcement : Cooking with Seeds - Barley

I am excited to host another event in my blog. This is my third event. I am hosting Priya's Cooking with Seeds Event and I have picked the theme as Barley.

Barley is a super healthy grain. But for some reason in India it is often associated as a sick man's food. My earliest and only tryst with the grain was when I was little and had come down with Jaundice. I used to be given Barley water.

Recently a blog friend of mine (Veena) introduced me to the grain and we are hooked to it. I have posted a couple of recipes - Barley Biriyani and Barley Tomato Soup in my blog. There are a lot Indian options and you can also venture into salads, soups, risotto, desserts, breakfast porridges. The list is endless.

I am looking forward to making some new dishes for the event and also to learn from all of you guys.

So what are we waiting for... Don your cooking hats, whip up a dish and send it along to me....

You need to do:
1. Cook anything with barley, both vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes are accepted from 01-Nov-2012 to 30-Nov-2012. Use barley in any form (pearl barley, rolled barley, hulled barley, barley rava, barley powder etc).

2. Post as many dishes as you can.Multiple entries are allowed.

4. Old entries which are reposted with these links are also accepted

5. Using Logo is very much appreciated.
