Chickpeas with Peanuts and Sesame

Bored of eating Channa Masala! Want to try something else with Chickpeas? Try this!!

Please note that the below recipe serves 6 people. Change your ingredients accordingly to make smaller portions.



Ingredients

Dried Chickpeas 2 cups. Soak over night and cook in pressure cooker.
1 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp tamarind paste (if using fresh add accordingly)
2 tsp chilli powder
coriander leaves to garnish

To be ground to paste
1 Big Onion
3 Tbsp Peanuts/Groudnuts
2 Tbsp Sesame seeds. i used white sesame
3 Tbsp coconut
1 tsp corriander
1 tsp jeera
3 pods garlic
small piece ginger
1 big tomato, cut to small pieces

Salt to taste



Method of Preparation

1. Dry roast all the ingredients under 'to be ground to paste' except tomato in a slow flame till they are lightly browned and aroma emits.

2. Add the tomato and sauté for a little longer

3. Grind into a fine paste adding water as required.

4. Transfer back to the pot and add required water and heat it up.

5. Add cooked chick peas, turmeric, chilli powder, tamarind paste and salt

6. Bring it to a boil and cook for some more time.

7. Garnish with coriander leaves and sevre with warm roti.
