Pepper Mushoom

Pepper Mushroom is yet another Kerala Dish that I love. If you are a non-vegetarian, you can make a pepper chicken also the same way.

Ingredients

Mushroom 500 gm
Onion 1
Tomato 1
Pepper 1 tsp
Jeera/Cumin 1tsp
Mustard 1/2 tsp
Turmeric 1/2 tsp

Oil (be generous) and salt to taste

Method of Preparation

1. I buy sliced mushroom. Give it a good rinse. Cook it in microwave for 10 minutes. Drain any excess water. Cook for another 6-7 minutes. Make sure it does not go all shunk and dry on you.

2. Make a coarse powder of pepper and cumin. Keep aside

3. Heat oil in pan. Add some mustard. When it sputters, add chopped onions. Cook till it starts to brown.

4. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook well.

5. Finally add the mushroom, pepper-cumin powder and salt. Stir and cook for a few more minutes.

Only issue I had was the final quantity. It just made a little over a cup of the curry :-( Believe me, a cup will not be enough, you will be licking the bowl like I was. Yummmmmmmmm
