Masala Oats Toast

Eating oats for breakfast may be a thing that you enjoy. But I know quite a few people who like something spicy and savoury for their breakfast. This is one interesting way of incorporating oats in your breakfast without eating the porridge. You will fall in love with this!

Ingredients

Bread 8-10 slices
Oats 1.5 cups
Rava/Semolina 1/2 cup

Onion 1 finely chopped
Carrot 2 grated
Green Chilli 1 (more for spicier version)
Curry Leaves few

Jeera/Cumin 1 tsp
Turmeric 1/2 tsp
Hing a little

Oil and salt to taste
Butter for toasting (optional)

Method of Preparation

1. Dry roast the oats and let it cool. Powder it and add to a mixing bowl.

2. Heat a little oil in a pan. Add Jeera, turmeric and hing.

3. When it sizzles, add finely chopped onions. Saute till it wilts a little.

4. Add finely grated carrots and saute for another minute.

5. Add semolina and saute for 1 min.

6. Make a paste of green chilli and curry leaves. Add to pan.

7. Transfer all this to the mixing bowl. Add some salt. Give it a mix.

8. Now add water as required. I used about 4 cups of water to make a thick batter.

9. Heat  a tawa to toast the bread. Use butter as required. You can toast it without any butter too.

10. Take a slice of bread and apply a ladle of batter on one side. Place the bread batter side down on the tawa.

11. Apply another ladle of batter to the other side.

12. Once the bottom side is cooked, flip the bread and cook the other side.

13. Continue for other slices of bread.
